Apps
Mac
Install Wren TV for Mac, a native app that plays almost any file directly, including Dolby Vision Profile 7.
Wren TV for Mac is a native app for macOS 15 or later on Apple Silicon Macs (M1 and newer). It plays through libmpv, the engine behind mpv, so it plays almost any file directly, including MKV, Dolby Vision Profile 7 and lossless audio, without the server converting anything. It also downloads titles to watch offline.
Install
- Download WrenTV-macOS.zip from the latest release.
- Open the zip and drag Wren TV into your Applications folder.
- Open Wren TV. The first time, macOS asks whether you're sure you want to open an app downloaded from the internet: choose Open.
The app is signed and notarized by Apple, and everything it needs is inside it, so there's nothing else to install. To update, download the new zip and replace the app in Applications.
Sign in with your Wren TV account. The app finds your servers and opens one by itself, or shows a list if you can use several. Server owners also get the server's settings under Settings.
Downloads and offline
See downloads. Without a connection, the sign-in screen offers Watch Downloads.
Troubleshooting
Video doesn't play, or the app quits when playback starts. Check you're on macOS 15 or later on an Apple Silicon Mac, then ask on Discord with what you were playing.
