FAQ
Common questions about Wren TV.
Does my video go through Wren TV's servers?
No. Video always goes straight from your server to the player. wrentv.com only serves web pages, Wren TV accounts
only handle sign-in and sharing, and wrentv.net is only DNS. See what each part sees.
Does Wren TV collect telemetry?
No. The server doesn't report what you watch to anyone. Servers that use Wren TV accounts publish their name, addresses, version and library names to your account so players can find them.
Do I need a Wren TV account?
Only to use watch.wrentv.com, the apps, sharing by email and automatic HTTPS addresses. A server with local accounts works without one, on your own network.
Will Wren TV change or move my files?
No. Wren TV only reads your media. With Docker, mount it read-only (:ro) to be sure. Everything it creates goes in
its own data directory.
Does it support Dolby Vision and Atmos?
Yes. They pass through untouched whenever the player supports them, and the server remuxes rather than transcodes to keep them. Apps with libmpv play even Dolby Vision Profile 7 directly. Browsers usually get HDR10 or SDR. See how a file plays.
Can I use it with Real-Debrid, TorBox or AllDebrid?
Yes. With streaming, the server searches Stremio addons for any movie or show and plays the
releases your debrid service has cached, for everyone you share it with. For a debrid library mounted with rclone or
Zurg instead, add the mount as a normal library and set scanner.probe_workers: -1 so files aren't probed until
they're played.
Does it download or seed torrents?
No. Streaming only uses releases your debrid service already has cached, and Wren TV never runs a torrent client.
How is it different from Plex, Jellyfin or Emby?
It's built around playing files at full quality: direct play first, lossless remuxes that keep Dolby Vision and Atmos, lossless audio conversion instead of transcoding, and transcoding only as a last resort. It scans quickly, can stream anything through your own debrid account alongside your files, and has no ad rows or rentals.
What was Haven?
Wren TV's old name. Your data carries over: see Upgrading from Haven.
